Emergency Relief Aid Provided to Mahabodhi Parahita Monastic Education School and 185 Families in Prin Khaung Village, Rathedaung Township, Affected by Mocha

Introduction:

In response to the devastating impact of the Mocha disaster, our Young Buddhist Student Literacy Mission, based in India, swiftly mobilized resources to provide emergency relief aid to badly affected Mahabodhi Parahita Monastic Education School, Sittwe and to the affected families in Prin Khaung Village, located in Rathedaung Township. With the aim of alleviating their immediate needs, we distributed essential supplies and financial assistance to 185 households. This comprehensive aid package included monetary support, staple food items, tarpaulin, dried fishes, and bread. The total cost of the relief effort amounted to approximately Ks. 40,000,000.

Monetary Assistance:

Recognizing the urgent need for financial aid, our Mission provided Ks. 100,000 to each household affected by the Mocha disaster. This direct monetary support aimed to empower the families in rebuilding their lives and meeting their immediate expenses. The total amount disbursed reached Ks. 18,500,000, helping individuals and families to regain some stability during this challenging time.  The Mahabodhi Parahita Monastic Education School is now preparing for starting the new academic Session 2023-24, but it may delay for another one week while reconstructing the temporary structure for running the school.

Food Supplies:

To address the critical issue of food security, our relief efforts included the distribution of rice, a staple in the local diet. Each household received a sufficient quantity of rice to sustain them for a reasonable period, ensuring that they could meet their basic nutritional requirements amidst the crisis. The provision of rice aimed to ease the burden of immediate food scarcity and promote the well-being of the affected families.

Essential Shelter Materials:

In response to the damage caused by Mocha, many families in Prin Khaung Village lost their homes or had their shelters severely damaged. To mitigate their exposure to the elements, our Mission distributed tarpaulins. These versatile and durable materials can be used to construct temporary shelters, protecting families from inclement weather conditions and providing a measure of security until more permanent solutions can be found.

Nutritional Support:

As part of our comprehensive relief effort, we recognized the importance of providing adequate nutrition to the affected families. Dried fishes, a valuable protein source in the local diet, were distributed to each household. Additionally, bread was provided to ensure a readily available and easily consumable food item that could serve as a quick source of sustenance during these challenging times. By offering these food items, we aimed to address immediate hunger and nutritional needs.

Conclusion:

Through our emergency relief aid, our Mission endeavored to provide a comprehensive package of assistance to the 185 affected families in Prin Khaung Village, Rathedaung Township, who were victims of the Mocha disaster. The aid included monetary support of Ks. 100,000 to each household, as well as essential supplies such as rice, tarpaulin, dried fishes, and bread. The total cost of the relief effort reached approximately Ks. 40,000,000. By addressing immediate financial, food, and shelter needs, our organization aimed to alleviate the suffering and contribute to the recovery process of the affected families, helping them rebuild their lives and regain a sense of normalcy.

Mahabodhi Parahita Monastic Education School committee, patronized by Ven. Dr. Nando Batha, is also now seeking fund to help many other villages especially at Rathedaung township, where no emergency relief aids reached yet.
